Volunteer Opportunities

We depend on volunteer help to extend our work, and are grateful for your consideration.  Each year over 350 volunteers contribute their time to the programs and services at CHARISM. With their help, we are able to offer valued support to children and families in need.  Together we making Good Things Happen at CHARISM!

CHARISM has volunteers working in the following areas:

   Program Support:

     n Youth Activities:  mentoring, literacy, community service, art, music, and social projects; 20-hour minimum commitment per semester required for relationship formation

     n G.A.P. (Grocery Assistance Program):  Unload truck from Great Plains Food Bank, sort and distribute food, help with home deliveries to homebound residents, clean-up; program runs on Fridays

     n Special Events:  Holiday parties, back-to-school event, summer festival, food & fun nights, etc.

   Agency Events and Fundraisers:

     n Serve on planning committees

     n Event Preparation (day-of): set-up, decorations, gathering necessary materials and supplies, take-down and clean-up after the event

     n Event hosts:  greet guests, registration, provide and serve refreshments

     n Collaborate for small-group fundraisers at universities, churches, businesses, etc.

   Office/Clerical Support:

     n Assist with newsletters and other mailings

     n Assist with updating and maintaining databases and website

     n Help gather information needed for grants, presentations, and program planning

     n Other clerical support

     n Translate CHARISM forms and documents into other languages for the clients we serve

   Facilities Enhancement:

     n Maintain indoor and outdoor plants:  water, trim, prune, and weed as necessary

     n Facilities projects as needed:  painting, light repair work, seasonal cleaning, etc

     n Assist with snow removal at the McCormick site during the winter months
